Australia has many of the most colourful parrots, including this bright little fella. Shy and retiring, mousy, reticent, unassuming, timid are all term you would not use describe these birds. Parrots generally fly in the face of these notions with their Joseph-like coat of many colours and raucous disposition. They definitely are the show pony type and make their presence known one way or another. I photographed this happy chappy when visiting my dear in-laws in Roma.
